CCC President makes a statement regarding recent events in Charlottesville, Virginia

I am saddened by the recent violence surrounding Charlottesville, Va. Please be assured the Central California Conference (CCC) leadership rejects all violence, all intolerance, all racism, anti-Semitism and all forms of hatred and bigotry. These behaviors are in direct opposition to our calling and mission as a church and those of us who call ourselves Christians. Let it be said that CCC supports diversity. Let it also be said that we hurt when others hurt, we mourn when others mourn and sympathize deeply with the victims of such unspeakable acts and behaviors witnessed in recent days.

While we cannot control current events, let me instead take this opportunity to remind all of us within the body of Christ that we are neither “Jew nor Gentile,” “slave nor free,” nor “male and female” but rather, “one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:28) Further, let us be mindful at times like these, that this world is not our home, but merely a temporary dwelling place. The King of Kings and Lord of Lords has not yet set up His earthly throne. But that kingdom is fast approaching dear reader! When that King of Kings brings us home, that kingdom will be free of marginalization, free of pain, and free of all suffering. Until then, let us prayerfully press on to that bright, beautiful glorious day living Jesus’ command in our communities, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:39)
