A Message from the President

March 17, 2020

Dear CCC Family,

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Please know that you are being prayed for constantly. Therefore, take courage! The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is the same God of you, me and His Church today. Praise His holy name!

We recognize that we are living in very trying and solemn times of earth’s history, and now more than ever, we need to cling to our Lord as never before. Be courageous, be joyful and confident that He will see us through this precarious time of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. The Lord has promised:

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed. For I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

Since its inception, the Adventist movement has been sharing the good news of salvation, the three angels’ messages and the imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ through our churches and schools alike. We have preached and taught that the last days would be accompanied with wars and rumors of wars, famines and pestilences (Matthew 24). Could this Coronavirus (Covid-19) be a warning of what is to come? Could this be a rehearsal of how events could and might unfold? Some may respond that we have had epidemics and pandemics before. Yes, but what can we learn from this current state of affairs?

It is very telling and informative for us as students of the Word, to observe the reaction of local, national and global governments. Fear can rapidly grip a community and alter daily lives. Buying habits and priorities are quickly affected and all of a sudden what was important yesterday is now overshadowed by the basic needs of life. We can see how prophecy could be fulfilled very quickly and suddenly. Inspiration shares the following:

“The agencies of evil are combining their forces, and consolidating. They are strengthening for the last great crisis. Great changes are soon to take place in our world, and the final movements will be rapid ones.” 9T 11.2

Inspiration also shares with us that we will not be alone. The assurance of Divine assistance will strengthen us in every emergency we will face:

“Peculiar and rapid changes will soon take place, and God’s people are to be endowed with the Holy Spirit, so that with heavenly wisdom they may meet the emergencies of this age, and as far as possible counteract the demoralizing movements of the world. If the church is not asleep, if the followers of Christ watch and pray, they may have light to comprehend and appreciate the movements of the enemy.” 6T 436.3

“The end is near! God calls upon the church to set in order the things that remain. Workers together with God, you are empowered by the Lord to take others with you into the kingdom. You are to be God’s living agents, channels of light to the world, and round about you are angels of heaven with their commission from Christ to sustain, strengthen, and uphold you in working for the salvation of souls.” 6T 436.4

As servants of the gospel, we are called and anointed by the Lord. It is my hope and prayer that each of us will take this time for a personal inventory of our faithfulness to Him and His mission.

Scripture tells us that “all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28). I therefore conclude that God has this situation in His loving hands. He will see us through this and any other fiery dart flung by the enemy.

You and I, whether paid worker or volunteer, have been drafted into the army of the Lord for such a time as this. Therefore, “Let not your heart be troubled . . .” (John 14:1). Be prayerful, be alert, be proactive, be teachable, continue to support the mission of the church, lend a hand to others and be confident in the Lord who is in charge of His vineyard.

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23

God is good, all of the time! May the love and mercies of the Lord be with you and yours as we continue serving and praying together hand-in-hand through this challenge. The conference administration and local leadership will continue to monitor, learn and apply the appropriate adjustments during this very fluctuating situation.

Forward on our knees,
